How Alfar Global replaced Salesforce with EXRP (and cut costs nearly in half)

When a growing Mauritian cosmetics distributor found itself paying global-CRM prices for features it couldn't bend to its own processes, it switched to EXRP, Exera's cloud ERP. The result: far more flexibility, at nearly half the cost.

The challenge: global software, local business

Alfar Global, a subsidiary of Home Classics, distributes cosmetics across Mauritius. Like many growing SMEs, it started out on a well-known international CRM, Salesforce. On paper it had everything. In practice, it came with two problems that will sound familiar to a lot of Mauritian businesses.

First, the cost. Per-user, per-month licensing in foreign currency adds up fast, and it rarely maps to how a lean local team actually works. Second, the rigidity: the features a distributor in Mauritius really needs, tied to local workflows, products and reporting, were either expensive add-ons or simply not possible without a specialist integrator on retainer.

Why they looked for a Salesforce alternative

The question wasn't "is Salesforce good software?" It is. The question was whether a business of Alfar Global's size should be paying enterprise prices for a system it couldn't shape around its own operations, especially when the day-to-day reality is invoicing, inventory, orders and customers, not a global sales org chart.

They wanted three things:

  • Predictable, fair pricing without per-seat surprises or hidden fees.
  • Flexibility to add the custom features their product lines actually need.
  • Local support from a team that understands Mauritian business and is reachable on WhatsApp, not a ticket queue in another time zone.

The switch to EXRP

Exera moved Alfar Global onto EXRP, our cloud-based ERP built for startups and SMEs. Instead of bolting a CRM onto the business, EXRP brought the core of the operation into one place, invoicing, inventory, orders and customers, with unlimited records and fixed pricing.

Because EXRP is built and maintained in-house by Exera, the features that were "not possible" before became straightforward. Custom reports, workflow tweaks and product-specific logic that a global platform treats as bespoke development are, for us, just part of building software that fits the business. And as a Made in Moris, green-hosted product, EXRP keeps costs and the carbon footprint down at the same time.

"We switched from Salesforce to EXRP and cut our expenses nearly in half, with far more flexibility. We can now build custom features that were out of reach before."

Muhammad Siddick, Alfar Global Ltd

The results

The headline outcome was cost: software expenses dropped by nearly half. But the change the team felt day to day was flexibility. Features that used to be blocked by licensing tiers or expensive customization were suddenly on the table, and the business could keep shaping its system as it grew rather than working around someone else's template.

It's also MRA E-Invoicing compliant out of the box, so compliance stopped being a project and became a setting.

What it means for other Mauritian SMEs

Alfar Global isn't a special case. Plenty of local businesses are quietly over-paying for international software that doesn't quite fit, when a tailor-made or locally-built alternative would cost less and do more. If you're weighing a global CRM or ERP against the real needs of a Mauritian business, it's worth asking: are you paying for the logo, or for what your team actually uses every day?
